Many conventional dental flosses - even some marketed as natural - are made using petrochemical-based materials and coatings such as PTFE, a type of plastic often associated with PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). PFAS are known as "forever chemicals" because they don't break down. PFAS, PFOA, PFOS, PTFE, APFO and fluorinated surfactants are still commonly found in so-called natural flosses, which is why every floss here is carefully vetted to avoid these materials.
