How to Choose a Water Filter That Removes Fluoride and Reduces PFAS

A water filter is a big investment for you and your family, and with so many different water filters available, it can be hard to know which one to choose. They don't all work the same way or remove the same things. For example, lots of the mainstream water filter jugs sold at supermarkets aren't designed to remove fluoride. If you're looking for a water filter that removes fluoride, I've done all the hard work for you. Removing fluoride is only the first thing we check, every water filter sold at Clean Nectarine meets these three steps.

Step1

What it removes

The drinking water filters we sell remove fluoride, as well as chlorine, bacteria and heavy metals, including lead, copper, mercury and aluminium. According to Waters Co, independent lab tests on their filters show a significant reduction of PFOS and PFOA, which are PFAS, also known as forever chemicals. The shower filters we sell remove the chlorine and chloramine added to tap water, and reduce rust and sediment.

Step2

How it filters

Many popular drinking water filters use activated alumina. The drinking water filters we sell use activated coconut shell carbon bonded with silver instead. Many shower filters use calcium sulphite to neutralise the chlorine, and we avoid this method. The shower filters we sell use vitamin C, which has been proven to neutralise chlorine.

Step3

What it puts back

The drinking water filters we sell add trace minerals back into the water after filtering, and the benchtop water filters do this through coral and silica sands. They also alkalise the water, and according to Waters Co, the filtered water reaches a pH of 7.6 to 9.2, depending on the filter. The shower filters we sell add collagen to the water, which feels amazing on the skin.
