Why the Dr. Hauschka Tinted Day Cream is the Original BB Cream

The Dr. Hauschka Tinted Day Cream is a classic golden oldie, a certified organic tinted day cream that has been doing everything a great BB cream does since long before BB creams were even a thing.

Why the Dr. Hauschka Tinted Day Cream is the Original BB Cream

There are some natural skincare products that have really stood the test of time. I call these the golden oldies of the natural beauty world, and the Dr. Hauschka Tinted Day Cream is one of them. It launched in 1989, way before BB creams became popular, but it was already doing everything the best BB creams do: hydrate, provide light coverage, blend away imperfections and redness, and give the skin a healthy glow.

What I love about the Dr. Hauschka Tinted Day Cream

It's certified organic

It's certified organic to NATRUE standards and free from synthetic fragrances, dyes, and preservatives. The scent comes entirely from the natural plant extracts of Rose Water, Rose Wax, Lemon Peel and Jasmine, giving it a light, subtle floral aroma. It is also dermatologically tested and suitable for every skin type, including sensitive skin.

The botanical ingredients

It's made from time-tested medicinal plants including Almond Oil to moisturise and nourish, Rose Water and Anthyllis Extract to calm and harmonise, Beeswax and Rose Wax to protect, and Quince Seeds and St. John's Wort to support skin tone and elasticity.

That perfect no-makeup, makeup

It has a dewy and hydrating finish like no other. I have dry, mature skin, and this is the perfect amount of luminosity for me. It comes in just one shade but it's very adaptive and blends into the skin, evens out pigmentation and imperfections, and adds a subtle warmth to the face without looking like you're wearing makeup.

It replaces your moisturiser

Apply it each morning after toning, while the skin is still slightly moist. Warm a pea-sized amount between your palms, then press it into the skin rather than rubbing it in. It keeps the skin moisturised all day.

The versatility

You can use this on its own to replace your usual day cream, I use a Vitamin C serum underneath. You can also mix it into your regular day cream for a sheerer finish, use it under your foundation as a luminous primer for more coverage, or dust translucent powder over it if you prefer a matte finish.

The plastic-free packaging

It comes in a recyclable aluminium tube, which helps naturally preserve the cream by providing an excellent barrier against light, air and moisture. The inside of the tube is lined with a food-grade protective coating, so there is no contact between the cream and the aluminium.

Dr. Hauschka Tinted Day Cream: your questions answered

Is it suitable for mature skin?

Absolutely. It is designed with normal to very dry, sensitive and mature skin in mind. The botanical oils and protective waxes support the skin's natural moisture functions, and the cream sits beautifully without settling into fine lines or emphasising texture.

What does it smell like?

It has a light, natural floral scent from the Rose Water, Rose Wax, Lemon Peel and Jasmine in the cream. It is very subtle, so it’s a great option for anyone sensitive to strong perfumes.

Can it replace a daily moisturiser?

Yes, that is exactly what it is designed to do. It hydrates, protects and provides a light, even coverage in one step, so there is no need to layer a separate moisturiser underneath.

Does it contain SPF?

The Tinted Day Cream does not contain SPF, so apply your face sunscreen after the cream has fully absorbed into the skin.
