The round teat holds the tongue in the same position as breastfeeding, which is why midwives often suggest starting babies on a rounded shape. Because it's made in one piece there are no joins or cracks where bacteria can hide, and the larger shield sits against baby's nose for a closer feel to breastfeeding.
