Start with clean hands and apply a Vanessa Megan face oil, serum or cream so the tool glides without pulling at the skin.

Glide the gua sha across the face and neck three to five times in upward, outward strokes. Use light pressure around the eyes and forehead, and medium to firm pressure on the cheeks, jawline and neck.

Press the pointed edge into acupressure points and hold for a slow count of three, inhaling and exhaling as you do.

Some redness after massage is expected and should settle within 20 to 30 minutes. In the unlikely event of irritation, discontinue use.

Avoid gua sha massage on the face:

• If you have rosacea
• Within 28 days of dermal fillers
• Within 14 days of injectables
• If you are on blood thinners

Rinse with warm soapy water after every use and dry completely before storing in a cool, dry place. Keep it in the fridge between uses for an added cooling effect.
