Part 1 of my MooGoo brand guide. Let's start with the cleansers.
When I started my first toxin-free store back in 2011, MooGoo was one of the few natural skincare brands at the time, and my customers asked for it constantly. The problem was I couldn't stock it. Back then MooGoo only sold through pharmacies and health food shops, not to online retailers like me. So in 2016 I opened a small shopfront at the front of my warehouse and brought a naturopath on board so I could qualify to stock it. MooGoo said yes, but only in store, still not online. Ten years later and I am very happy to say that I can finally sell it here in my online store, and it's one of my best sellers.
If you don't know the MooGoo story, it started as a happy accident. In 2005, founder Craig Jones noticed his mum using a thick paste, the kind made to keep cows' udders soft for milking, to manage her psoriasis. He reformulated it into something lighter and more wearable, and MooGoo was born. It's an Australian brand, made here and dermatologically tested, with products for sensitive, reactive and dry skin, babies included.
In this series I'm going to take you through their whole range, one part at a time.
MooGoo Ultra Gentle Cleanser with Ceramides
I keep this one in my shower. The whole family uses it, face and body, because it's gentle enough for the kids and for anyone with reactive or eczema-prone skin. It's made with ceramides 3 and 3B, the lipids that help support the skin barrier and hold moisture in. I'm the one in this house who obsesses over her skin barrier. Nobody else here gives it a passing thought, and this looks after theirs anyway. In MooGoo's own testing it scored 75% lower for irritation than SLS.
MooGoo Creamy Hydrating Face Cleanser
I would describe my skin as very dry, and this is my favourite of the MooGoo cleansers, the one I go to when my skin needs extra comfort. It's a creamy, non-foaming wash that takes my makeup off, which not every gentle cleanser manages. It has hyaluronic acid to hold onto moisture while you cleanse, and milk protein, which is rich in amino acids and close to the skin's own moisturising factors.
MooGoo Oil Cleansing Method
My #1 trick for that glass skin trend is double cleansing, and this is my step 1. Technically it should be followed by a foam, and most days that's exactly what I do, but when my skin is feeling extra dry I use it before the Creamy Hydrating instead. If I've been wearing makeup or sunscreen, it gets everything off and leaves my skin ready for serums and night creams. It's an oil blend of castor, rice bran, jojoba and avocado.
MooGoo Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser
Their foaming cleanser pumps out as a soft, fluffy foam, and it's great for normal, oily and teen skin. It has niacinamide for congestion and papaya enzymes for a gentle exfoliation. It's also step 2 in a double cleanse for oily skin, straight after the oil cleansing method.
